After a long hiatus, I am now making what I believe will be my last round of therine guitar straps. They will be plaid with vintage brass plates- I'm putting the pieces together now!
Love the colors and mix of fabrics in this pic. For guys, the red bandana is pretty classic if you can work it in. I think they could work pretty well on a guitar strap.
Wow, can't believe I haven't posted in 3 months. But, life is busy in a lot of good ways. Meanwhile, this pompadour is amazing, and I love the whole look. Inspired!
Really love this chunky, vintage-y estate jewelry from Lulu Frost. If you're going to go for glitz, might as well go full out, right? Definitely inspiring some ideas for new glam guitar straps.
This video perfectly matches the feeling of the song, especially near the end. Really cool cropped shots and compositions.
Love this one- all white outfits getting ruined by black water = rock n' roll.
The one that started it all. I remember how completely different this video was from the rest of MTV at the time. 10 years old already, doesn't feel like it!
The Strokes have an album, Angles, coming out on Tuesday, and I'm really excited for their new stuff. These pics of earlier times are pretty full of guitar strap inspiration for me. Is Julian wearing a hawaiian shirt? Who else can work that into this kind of look?
Recently seeing (and loving) Black Swan got me interested (again*) in both ballet and feathers. While I can't really imagine a successful combination of ballet and guitar straps, I can think of many ways to use feathers on guitar straps. And fortunately, I just came across this Etsy shop- KIMONOS, which is an amazing resource for them. I'll definitely be buying some of their feathers to add onto new guitar straps in 2011. I can't stop looking at their amazing photography- these pictures look like frame-able works of art.
A long time favorite detail of mine, these epaulettes are pretty cool. The colors, rugged fabrics, and metal buttons are all inspiring for some details on my guitar straps.
Check out these great woven shirts from Brooklyn Tailors. I really love that a design duo in Brooklyn is not only making high-quality, handmade mens (and womens!) shirts and selling them on Etsy, but that they're getting the same press and recognition that is usually only given to bigger companies. Especially in the menswear world. And it's well deserved- their plaids are beautiful, and the sewing quality and fit (slim, modern) are quite obviously top-notch, as evidenced by their photos.
They are another inspiring reminder of how amazing & successful an Etsy shop can be.
These girls are literally, too cool for school. The top two images are from the 1950s in London, and the bottom image is a modern photoshoot inspired by the top image. Love this look. Definitely now an inspiring mix of Edwardian Gibson girl + rockabilly + menswear-on-women. There's more on the true teddy girls in this article.

As a gemini, I can never decide on just one style. So therine encompasses my love for antique/vintage and graphic/rock/glam, for both men and women. Hope you like the mix as much as I do.
